Allen Ginsberg y Peter Orlovsky
LUNES

"Another Sunny Day" - Belle & Sebastian (The Life Pursuit, 2006)
Translation
ResponderEliminarAs a ritual you stand on a common corner.
It's Monday and you proceed a little empty.
It's best not to know
what you want for breakfast.
It's best not to know
what you fancy or imagine.
Trees combine with sidewalk
and now it is when you know
where your place is (it was never too far)
and after you know your place
you tune to the melody
of all who walk with you,
each to his own sandbox.
You know that at any time
the city will wrench from you
your feelings, those sensations
and you will know
it is your way of loving them.
You wash your consciousness
with a last sip from the straw.
Today, nothing will change
but surely you are grateful
just to bear the consequences.
Precioso...
Wow Ted! I'm amazed, never imagined how a poem of mine would sound in english and it's a strange sensation. Thank you very much for your dedication, for coming round here and specially for this present.:)
ResponderEliminarGracias chicas,

ResponderEliminarWasn't sure how you would react. I took a chance. I didn't want to translate it word for word. Ginsberg is one of my favorite poets. I wanted to capture what you captured.
Regards
Ted
Well, I loved it! I've seen that the translation isn't word by word but that's just another way of seeing it, you've SHARED the poem making it more in your way. I also adore Ginsberg, think that he was quite a character and somehow I was in the middle of some of his poemas when I wrote mine.
ResponderEliminarHope to see you here again!
Regards.
ResponderEliminarMuchas gracias.
